Celebrating Womanhood 2009

Based on Celebrating Womanhood's growth and outreach, we wish to incorporate new strategies and approaches to strengthen the event and its possibilities of contributing to the development of Nepali women.

The Curtain Raiser

The 2009 edition of Celebrating Womanhood (CW) began with a curtain raiser in May.
An interaction and discussion program with past recipients of Celebrating Womanhood took place in the afternoon. The interaction program was planned to strengthen link and networking among the recipients and to also brainstorm for ideas and strategies to strengthen the network enabling it to go further. The guest list also comprised of relevant personalities, mission heads and dignitaries from different missions, supporters of the event, prospective partners and media personnel.

The Curtain Raiser also:
  • Announced the commencement of the Call for Entry for Nominations for 2009.
  • Generated interest and support towards the event.
  • shared in detail the cause and possibilities of CW.
  • The Main Event 2009

    • Book Launch of the book comprising the biographies of the recipients from the year 2005 to 2008.
    • Thematic dance presentation that will enhance the rich natural heritage of Nepal which will also be related to the different stages of a woman's life.
    • Nomination Process:

A Public call for entry is made through a national daily minimum of 5 months in advance through a leading national daily as well as our official magazine, Nari and our website.

We also reach out to organizations which are able to provide us with the names of prospective recipients. This year we are requesting even more organizations ranging from business & media houses, education centers, sports council, travel trade related associations and development oriented (government & NGO) sectors for recommendations. For pre and post publicity of the event, press meets are conducted and followed up upon.
